Tips for School Zone Traffic Safety

Keeping school zones safe is not just the job of traffic signs.
Drivers should remember that pedestrians always have the right of way.
In the absence of traffic signs, drivers ought to slow down or stop for pedestrians whether they are in marked or unmarked crosswalks.

Drivers must stop when approaching a school bus that is picking up or dropping off children. The driver must remain stopped until the bus stop sign is pulled in and warning lights are turned off.
Drivers must slow down and watch for children wherever a school traffic safety sign is posted.
All motorists must come to a complete stop at stop signs and when a school crossing guard is displaying an official stop sign or flag.

Traffic signs serve many purposes everywhere, but are especially effective on school property. Following these tips, along with the instructions on traffic safety signs posted at your Children School, can ensure that more people stay safe and accidents are reduced.
